These are three of the images inspired by the artists styles found previously. After experimenting with different scale figures, I added people to the drawings to allow the viewer a clearer understanding of the space.
Sometimes small snapshots, or thumbnails, are the best way to explore a space, as I have discovered through this drawing assignment. It's also a great way to find numerous views of one space so that one may determine the best view to draw. They become your train of thought in a space.
After researching examples of scale figures for my drawing class, I began to wonder why scale figures must be people. My definition of a scale figure entails an example of a figure interacting with the space to allow the viewer reference to the space's size. I love all of these drawings, but those which stood out most obviously to me were the personified animals from le pen quotidien.
The latest challenge in my Drawing class is to find inspirational sketches and translate their styles into sketches of our own. My goal is to play with a variety of styles and incorporate their styles into sketches of the Elliot University Center, the UNCG student union.
In my History and Theory of Design class we were instructed to create five, 12"x12" images representing centralized, grid, cluster, radiant, and linear- all important elements of design. Being that I was very hungry, I let my stomach do most of the thinking in this assignment!
For our IARC Studio, we were assigned the task of creating a self-sustaining sytem using the entirety of a 2"x4"x18" piece of lumber, without any form of fasteners or glue. In my system, chose to explore the effects of rhythm on form.
